Hong Zuo is an associate professor at the Department of Labor Economics, School of Economics, and a Qiushi young scholar in Zhejiang University.She received her PhD in Social Economics from the Graduate School of Economics, Nagoya University, Japan. Her main research interests are in the fields of labor economics, family economics, and early human capital investment.
Dr. Zuo's research focuses on income distribution. Specifically, the previous research focused on the informal labor market, analyzing its internal stratification structure and the constraints of transfer between different stratification, etc., and gradually moved to the current research focusing on intergenerational mobility. Related projects include the National Social Science Foundation's general project "China's Intergenerational income mobility Mechanism and Public Policy based on Human Capital"(2018-2022), "The Influence and mechanism of intergenerational mobility of relative Poverty on the perception of distributive Justice in Zhejiang Province under the Background of Common Prosperity" (2022-2024); "The impact of intergenerational social mobility on perceived distributive justice "(2021-2023). Her researches have been published in China Economic Review, Australian economic review, China Rural Economy and other journals such as the Japanese journal Economic Science.
Dr. Zuo is currently a Visiting scholar at Columbia University from September 2024 to August 2025, during which time she will continue her research on intergenerational mobility in China, with a particular focus on the impact of China's digital economy development on intergenerational mobility.
