The New York City Longitudinal Survey of Wellbeing

Launched in 2012, the New York City Longitudinal Survey of Wellbeing study tracks economic and social wellbeing in New York City (NYC). Asian Americans have been the fastest growing ethnic group in NYC in recent years, now accounting for 14% of NYC residents. Among Asian Americans, Chinese are the largest ethnic group. Starting in 2020, the study includes newly recruited Mandarin-speaking participants, an oversample of Chinese-ethnic New Yorkers, which enables a more detailed understanding of the city’s Chinese American population and a more accurate characterization of NYC’s Chinese immigrants.
