This research draws on several large-scale surveys on families and children in China to examine the consequences of migration for children, both those accompanying their migrant parents and those left behind in sending areas. It compares left-behind children and migration children with rural non-migrant children and urban children along different dimensions of child development and assesses factors that mediate or moderate the impact of migration.
