Bio
Ruoran (Murphy) Qiu is a doctoral student in Social Policy and Policy Analysis at the Columbia University School of Social Work. Her research examines the ethical and social questions arising from family care practices and emerging biotechnologies across cultural and policy contexts.
Her current research focuses primarily on reproductive health care and family planning, including the ethical, legal, and social implications (ELSI) of assisted reproductive technologies(ARTs), welfare needs associated with childbearing, and the moral dimensions of procreation. She is also interested in research on family connectedness, individual well-being, and the ethics of care. Her work primarily focuses on Chinese and Asian American populations, with some projects incorporating transnational and comparative analysis.
