Bio

Baixue Yangchen is a master’s student in the Sociology Department at Columbia University. Her research interests center around labor study that focuses on immigrant groups, economic sociology with a special attention to the cultural meaning of economy, and technology. Baixue is currently working with Dr. Qin Gao on a survey of Chinese Americans and Dr. Denise Milstein on the COVID-19 Oral History project. Her independent research projects include the vocational experience of Chinese immigrant couriers in food delivery platforms in the U.S.; the economic meaning of religion: an investigation on temple tourism in China; and trust transformation in Internet medical crowdfunding platform.
