Chenxi Yang

Bio

Chenxi Yang (she/her) is a second-year graduate student at the Columbia School of Social Work with a concentration in policy practice. As a graduate student researcher, she is working on The State of Chinese Americans Survey at China Center for Social Policy. She is a fellow of the International Fellows Program from Columbia School of International and Public Affairs.

Chenxi graduated with honors in Economics and Spanish from the University of California, Davis. She gained work experience from UNDP, NGOs in China, Nigeria, and the U.S., and government agencies in China and the U.S.

Chenxi aims to challenge socially constructed stereotypes and advocate for marginalized communities, specifically LGBTQ+ community and sexual violence survivors. Her research interests cover mental health policy, gender inequality, minority stress, and stigma among gender and sexual minority community. In the near future, Chenxi hopes to pursue a PhD in social work
