Bio

Jeong Hyun Jennifer So (소정현) is a 1.5-generation Korean immigrant and a second year doctoral student at the Columbia School of Social Work (CSSW). Jen is interested in how social policies affect employment and time use decisions in women-led, immigrant, and single parent households. She is currently working with Dr. Qin Gao on Asian Americans’ experience during COVID-19. Her independent research projects include: community-based participatory research with Korean American women on race and ethnicity; policy influence on gendered time use; and anti-poverty effect of child allowance. Prior to doctoral studies, Jen worked in program administration and evaluation, project management, and community outreach. She received her MSW from CSSW and a BA in psychology from New York University.
