Kexin Yang

Bio

Kexin Yang (she/her) is a second-year student at Columbia School of Social Work on the policy practice track, passionate about educational equity and gender equality. She is currently a research assistant in The State of Chinese Americans Survey project. 

Majored in Social Work and minored in Pedagogy, Kexin graduated from Central China Normal University with honors in 2021. In addition, work experience in a mental health clinic, the office for people with disabilities, also contributes to her knowledge and professional competence.

In terms of research interests, Kexin focus on the issue of education inequity (aligns with regional income inequality) and stigma on mental illness and the LGBTQ+ community.
She will work in a public school in Guangdong, China from Fall 2023 as a certified teacher. Meanwhile, she is looking forward to learning and assessing how has school-based social work services developed in that province and her country. In the further future, Kexin hopes to pursue a Ph.D. in the intersection of social work and education.
