Stacie Tao

Bio

Stacie is a doctoral student at the Columbia School of Social Work, focusing on economic hardship and family policy. She studies the impact of income support policies on intergenerational and multidimensional poverty, child welfare involvement, and family well-being. She is currently working with Dr. Qin Gao on Asian American poverty and hardship, the State of Chinese Americans survey, and the U.S. welfare state in the global context. Her independent research examines the effect of the expanded Child Tax Credit transfers on parental mental health and child welfare outcomes. Prior to her doctoral studies, Stacie worked with child welfare and early intervention organizations in Washington State.
